Australian Holidays

Contributed by rohanl on September 17, 2002 @ 1:31AM
The Apple supplied Australian Holidays calendar is pretty dismal. This is an attempt at a much more accurate and useful version.

Info compiled from the relevant state govt web sites at http://www.dir.nsw.gov.au/holidays/ and links to other states at the bottom of that page.

Australian Holidays - new URL
Posted by rohanl on September 23, 2002 @ 10:08PM
The URL is correct, however it looks like Mozilla doesn't like it if you paste it into the address bar.

I'll try to make it a link here, if that doesn't work, in iCal go to Calendar:Subscribe... and paste the URL in webcal://icalx.com/public/rohanl/Australian32Holidays.ics

Duplication
Posted by crashrus on January 16, 2004 @ 10:24PM
Excellent Cal - nothing like having holidays to look forward to. I think there could be a duplication for Queen's Birthday (Except WA) - it appears twice. That mean we get two days off?

Melbourne Cup
Posted by Anonymous on October 25, 2004 @ 11:07PM
An improvement to consider: could you set up recurrence of Melbourne Cup to every 12 months on the first Tuesday of the month, not the 5/11.

Cheers!

Couldn't subscribe

Hello, I couldn't subscribe to the Victorian calendar - it says ...
"No calendar was found on http://icalx.com/public/rjwman/Victorian32(AU)32Public32Holidays.ics. Please check the URL." Any suggestions?

More missing...
Posted by Anonymous on September 25, 2006 @ 9:15AM
It's also missing the Queens Birthday (WA) - has been since 2003, I think. It's on Monday 2nd October this year.

Adelaide Cup Day
Posted by Anonymous on May 12, 2006 @ 6:50AM
Currently your calendar says Adelaide Cup day is the 3rd Monday of May, and I believe that was correct at one time because my diary says the same, however I this year at least it was in March and not May. 15/5/2006 is not a public holiday in South Australia.

Re: Adelaide Cup
Posted by rohanl on June 1, 2006 @ 11:37PM
Thanks for letting me know about this. I have moved Adelaide Cup day for 2006 only. It seems it's still undecided as to when it will be from 2007 onwards. To quote the SA gov at:

http://www.safework.sa.gov.au/show_page.jsp?id=2483

To ensure that the holiday is best timed to deliver the maximum benefit to the South Australian community, the Government will be assessing the success of this year's Adelaide Cup Holiday before determining what arrangements will apply for 2007 and beyond.

WA Labor Day holiday 2007
Posted by Anonymous on November 5, 2006 @ 9:15PM
Just like to comment that the Labor Day holiday for Western Australia seems to be wrong. I think it should be March 5 2007.

other Aussie holidays

Have you thought about including the other 'days' e.g., St Pat's, Mother's, Father's etc.??

Not holidays, but is handy to know.
