Presidential Election Calendar 2016

Key dates for the 2016 presidential election. Per Democratic Party rules, primary and caucus events are allowed between February 1st and June 14th, 2016. Delegate allocations are proportional between candidates earning at least 15% vote. 2,383 delegates will be needed for the nomination. Per Republican Party rules, primary and caucus events are allowed between February 1st and June 11th, 2016. Other than SC, allocations are proportional prior to March 15th, 2016, can be proportional or all-or-none thereafter. For proportional events, states can set a minimum vote threshold of up to 20% to receive any delegates. 1,237 delegates will be needed for the nomination.
